Stood a lone, courageous brave with his eyes all ablaze from the tribe of the Cherokee.

Lookin' down upon the valley and the one that he would marry o'er the land as far as one could see

He had left his home behind far beyond the tallest pines climbing up to the highest peak.

His heart belonged to a Cherokee princess and he wanted her for his wife

But another young brave that she didn't love came and challenge him for the right

So, the tribal men declared, "We will settle this here in a way that's right and fair. "

And they sent them out, put to them to the test, in search of the great bear.

After three long seasons empty handed and beaten the other brave came stumblin' home

And the princess cried, "Where is Falling Rock?” And he said, “He must be gone.”

So, she set out to find him at the sun's next risin' and she searched year's far and wide.

But she never found her love or a trace of where he was. And she would never be his bride.
